In her long, stellar career, Fung Hang Record recording artist Rowena Cortes has amassed numerous awards, Gold Records and hit songs. In recent years she has released two best-selling, multi-award winning Hi-Fi CDs with Fung Hang Record. 

Her career began early, by winning a Talent Quest at the tender age of five. At six years old she released her first EP with EMI records. Between the ages of eleven and fifteen she had signed with TVB as an artist, won TVB’s singing contest, and signed with Toshiba EMI and Yamaha in Japan, where she won the “Best New Artist Award” in 1978. She also represented the USA at the 1978 World Popular Song Festival with a song written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. 

It would require too much space to list all of her incredible accomplishments as an artist, but here follows just a few: 

– Signed with EMI HK in 1978 and released a few singles and one LP which was certified Gold. – Acted and sang in her first movie, “Follow the Star” directed by John Woo in 1978. 

– Acted and sang in the TVB drama “Dao Nga Mong” in 1981. 

– Signed with Polygram Records in 1981. – Won the Best Film Song Award in 1983 for the song “Chik Ngan Mei”. 

– Released several Cantonese best-selling albums and singles. Won gold discs for “Dao Nga Mong”, “Queen of a Thousand Years” and “Chik Ngan Mei”. 

– Released a “Comeback Recording” with Eason Chan in 2010 with the Cantonese duet hit single “He Said She Said” which won the “Best Duet Song of the Year” in 2010. 

– Appeared in Fung Hang “The Music Must Go On” and Fung Hang 56th Anniversary Concert on 22nd November, 2021 at The Hong Kong Cultural Centre with fellow Fung Hang artist Simon Au Shun Hei, Cecilia Fong and Albert Cheung. The concert was a great success. 

– Appeared in Fung Hang 57th Anniversary “Rowena and Simon”—Sum Ngoi Jeuk Nei Live Concert 2022 with fellow Fung Hang artist Simon Au Shun Hei on October 11, 2022 at The Hong Kong Cultural Centre.  The concert was a massive success. 

She is currently working on her third Hi-Fi CD with producer/husband, Perry Martin, slated for release in August 2023.
